My heartfelt condolences to your family. I remember Megan sharing photos of a trip she took with Val. I was amazed by Val's sense of adventure and her lack of fear of heights. Although I never met her, I could see her spirit in the photos I viewed and the stories shared. My heart goes out to Megan and her entire family as you grieve this tremendous loss....Holly R.

Dearest Megan and loving family members,
I am sending much love to all of you as I remember Val. She was a kindred spirt with our shared love of tea and cats. But she wins with her fabulously mad and marvellous limericks. I am privileged to have a few of them that I will cherish always. One of the things I remember so vivdly about Val was the time she talked Megan into doing the wild walk at the top of the CN tower. This no doubt was on the very edge with some kind of ropes I suspect for support. Needless to say I was glad it was Megan and not me. This was something I knew about Val: she was indeed a great adventurer! I like to think that this will live on in the years ahead in all of her loving family, including her incredible daughter and granddaughters: Megan, Talia, and Corey. Much love and light to you all at this challenging time Lisa Goldberg

When I think of Val Aston, words that touch my mind and heart are, Loving, humorous, intelligent, honest, adventurous, and fun. Feeling so blessed to have come to know Val through Megan her beautiful daughter, to see her light and gifts shine through her family and grandchildren, and feel unconditional acceptance and friendship from her. Someone once shared that the the Christmas season was a time when many people passed, because it was a time when there were many angels close at hand. Well Heaven now welcomes a lovely , courageous, angel with a wonderful sense of humor.. You will be missed on earth Val but welcomed with open arms and joy in heaven. May your husband, children, grandchildren and friends feel your love and smile when they think of you. XO Mary, Bryan, Katrina and Brandon

Dear Geoff, Megan and David,
I’m so sorry for the loss of your wife and mother. From the stories that Megan has told me about Val, she was an amazing person and led a very large and purposeful life. I didn’t have the pleasure of getting to know her, but have loved hearing about her driving sports cars and walking around the CN tower later in her life. I’m sure she felt all of your love in her final days and now at peace. I hope your many beautiful memories will help you through this difficult time of loss.

Dear Megan, Mark, Corey and Talia,
I am so sorry for your loss. I am forever grateful for Val because without her, I would not have Megan (and all of you) in my life. I remember meeting Val over FaceTime one year on Megan’s birthday when I suggested we call to ask about her birth story. It made Megan giggle and it probably seemed like a strange request to both of her parents but Val obliged by recounting the events with much wit. The memory of that call makes me smile every year on February 22.
Sending you all hugs. Love, Sheri

Geoff and Family, We are so sorry for the loss of your wife, mother, and grandmother. Val was an amazing and inspiring person. We count ourselves lucky that we got to know Megan's parents when they moved to Halifax. Even though we knew Val for only a short time, we will not forget her smile, her friendliness and her spirit of adventure. She was bright and lively and fun to be around. She also made the best lemon meringue pie anywhere! She has touched many people, us included, and we are grateful to have known her. Our condolences, Elaine and Bob Loney
