Covid-19 Virus and Its Impact on our Funeral Services

With the rapid developments and the changes, we are experiencing as a result of the Covid-19 Virus, we are and will continue to review and update our policies and procedures with respect to how funeral services are provided to our community.

We will base our guidelines on provincial public health notices and requirements.  At the forefront of our policies we will be addressing public health concerns.

At this point in time, wearing a face mask & social distancing is a key government strategy to combat transmission of the virus. If you are experiencing cold, flu, fever, coughing or are not feeling well we ask that you not attend a funeral service. If attending a service, please refrain from activities such as handshaking and hugging, and maintain a safe distance from fellow mourners. With respect to managing the size of gatherings at our funeral home we recommend the following. If you have compromised health, are above the age of 70 or are not a close family member or friend, we suggest you do not attend the service.  Please use our website’s obituary page to leave condolences. www.tjtracey.com.  The family of the deceased will understand your decision not to attend the service.

Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination required under the authority of the Health Protection Act:  As part of the proof of full vaccination protocol, you need proof that you're fully vaccinated to participate in discretionary, non-essential events and activities that gather people together, which means that to attend indoor and outdoor funerals (including receptions and visitation) that are hosted by a business or organization proof is required.

We have stepped up our disinfecting of common areas. It is difficult to guarantee a completely safe environment, but we will do our utmost to provide a sterile environment for visitors.

This is a trying time for many in our community and we will do our utmost to ensure families have the ability to say their farewells in a meaningful manner, while striving to minimize the transmission of this virus.

If you have specific questions about funeral services, please contact us by phone:  Halifax 902.835.4212   Glace Bay: 902.849.4199
