My dad, Tom Head, spoke of Allie MacIntyre, with fondness. Over the years his name was mentioned many, many times around our kitchen table. He was a driving force in Glace Bay for change and community. I have only met him as a little girl, but I feel I know him well. Allie will be missed by many. Oh no, Al was one of the best men ever! So terribly sorry to hear this news, especially so soon after the loss of Alana. We both have a host of memories of Al and Hugena, including traveling together before NHWU conferences. What a true gentleman, so kind and intelligent, with that twinkle in his eye! Please accept our sincerest condolences. Allie was an exceptional man; he and Hughena took in a newlywed couple 28 years ago so that Rose wouldn’t be alone in Quebec while I completed my military training in Kingston. It was our first Christmas away from home and the MacIntyre clan ensured that it would be a Christmas we’d cherish to this day. His commitment to family and community were second to none.
