I first met Wayne and Bertha at the Wilson, Lahey, Randall family reunion out in Louisburg back in 2009, and immediately felt their warmth and love, even though I was a complete stranger. Wayne was a newly discovered first cousin for me. My mother (Theresa Wilson) is Evangeline's sister, and we were so happy and excited to know him and his wonderful wife. It was truly the highlight of our reunion! Reading the many comments and posts about Wayne from so many other people as he and Bertha made their way through this difficult journey is heart-achingly beautiful and profoundly sad. He was so loved and appreciated by so many people. What a wonderful testament to a life well lived, full of so much kindness and selflessness! I can't imagine the terrible loss his passing must bring to all of you who knew Wayne and called him husband, or family, or friend over all these years, but I hope that all those memories you made together will give you some peace and comfort. Our hearts are with Bertha and family, now and always.
