It was a pleasure finally meeting up with you Wayne, a few years ago. Everyone was happy to see you at the family reunion as met so many relatives as cousin Dianne mentioned in her comments. You were quire the gentleman Wayne and for me personally, someone I will not forget. Your life stories Schneider were amazing and we still tell the one about, “The lost boy in the woods”. Now that you are reunited with your mother Vangie, I wish you both peace. We will never forget you and Bertha and will keep both of you in our prayers Take care my friend and cousin . Dear "Schneider" Family,
I heard with sadness that Schneider has died. I met him whenever I substituted for Fr. Dan at Bridgeport Immaculate Conception. He was the server at Sunday Mass. I always enjoyed seeing him. He was very helpful and friendly. I will miss seeing him when I go there. My sympathies and condolences, care and concern, friendship and prayer. I feel badly that I can't go to his funeral as I am giving a retreat to our deacons' spouses this weekend. I shall remember him and you at prayer.
God bless
Fr. Bedford Doucette

Wayne was a fine man. There was not a mean bone in his body. He did for many. Wayne relished talking about how as a child he got lost in the woods for 2-3 days. His 'angel' looked after him. That is Wayne, a man of complete trust in his God.
Rest in peace, Wayne. I will miss your smile. Grant him eternal rest. My prayer for Wayne, Eternal rest grant on to him, O Lord and let perpetual Light shine upon him. Prayerfully, S. Mary Shaw, ASC, D. Min, Sprinigfield, Illinois, USA formerly of New Aberdeen, Cape Breton. I knew Wayne for many years.

I first met Wayne and Bertha at the Wilson, Lahey, Randall family reunion out in Louisburg back in 2009, and immediately felt their warmth and love, even though I was a complete stranger. Wayne was a newly discovered first cousin for me. My mother (Theresa Wilson) is Evangeline's sister, and we were so happy and excited to know him and his wonderful wife. It was truly the highlight of our reunion! Reading the many comments and posts about Wayne from so many other people as he and Bertha made their way through this difficult journey is heart-achingly beautiful and profoundly sad. He was so loved and appreciated by so many people. What a wonderful testament to a life well lived, full of so much kindness and selflessness! I can't imagine the terrible loss his passing must bring to all of you who knew Wayne and called him husband, or family, or friend over all these years, but I hope that all those memories you made together will give you some peace and comfort. Our hearts are with Bertha and family, now and always.
