Obituary of Lorne D. Trevors

Lorne Douglas Trevors, age 59 of Halifax, passed away on Friday, May 10th, 2019 at the Dartmouth General Hospital.
Born in Miramichi, NB, he was a son of the late Ernie and Shirley Trevors.
Lorne was a loving father, spouse, sibling, and grandfather. He was a dedicated social worker within the Children’s Aid Society (CAS); a well-respected national representative for the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE); he loved biking, home renovations, travel, the outdoors, painting, stained glass art, writing, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. Lorne had the gift of understanding people and their needs, had a strong faith, and believed strongly in equality for all!
He will be lovingly remembered by his husband of 12 years, Leander Mendoza; children from his first marriage to Gail Forrester, son Lorne Matthew Trevors (Vanessa Bingham), and daughter Katherine Christine Dominico (Derek “DH” Dominico); brothers James (Josie), Fred, and Richard (Audrey); sisters Carolyn (Frank Sullivan), Elizabeth (John Cook), Carmel (Dennis Casson), and Wendy (Dave Galliah); sister in law Lorna; grandson Hunter Thomas Dominico; beloved dogs Mini and Max, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Beside his parents, Lorne was predeceased by brothers Tommy and Charles, and brother in law Frank Sullivan.
A memorial service and celebration of Lorne’s life will be held on June 1st, 4:00 pm, at First Baptist Church, 1300 Oxford Street, Halifax, with Rev Jenny Drewitz and Rev Rusty Edwards officiating.
Further services in Lorne’s memory will be held on June 2nd, 2:00PM, St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Miramichi, NB, and June 8th, 3:00PM, St. James United Church, 400 Burnhamthorpe Rd. Etobicoke On.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lung Association of Nova Scotia.
