Obituary of John Ainsley Morris

Morris, John Ainsley – 89 died peacefully in Maplestone Enhanced Care, Halifax, on Wednesday May 25th, 2016. Born in Halifax he was a son of the late John and Sophia (Romo) Morris.
He ran the family business John Morris Concessions Ltd. affiliated with Bill Lynch Shows for decades. He was a past president of the Maritime Showmen’s Association. Son of a Greek father and Acadian French mother he was a colourful and spirited character. His passion in life was his wife Ruth, his children and their families, and cheering on his beloved Montreal Canadiens.
He is survived by his daughter Susan (John) Powell; sons John E. and Gregg (Cindy), all of Halifax. He was Popop to Suzanne (Donald), John Paul, Allison (Levi), Michelle, Gregory; great grandchildren Emma, Phenwick, Vienna, Layla and Amira.
He is also survived by his adopted daughter Judy; sisters Elaine Nixon, Lorraine Baldwin and Anna Morris; devoted brother and sister in law Aubrey and Lucy Rhyno and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 62 years Ruth and beloved son Michael. Also his brother Peter Morris; sisters Grace Walker and Marie Henneberry.
A Celebration of John’s life will be held in St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church (6903 Mumford Rd, Halifax, NS) at 10:00 am on Monday, May 30th , 2016.
