To Bill’s family I offer my sincere condolences. During my career we came into contact many times and I found him to be a great guy who treated everyone the same regardless of their status in the organization. Treasure your memories as he lives on in your hearts.

I was the Union Regional Vice President when Bill was the ADM. I always found Bill to be open, honest and fair. He would listen to all sides of an issue and work with you to find a solution that satisfied both parties if he felt it was the right thing to do. I enjoyed my time working with him and missed him when he left Ontario. He was one in a million that would call a spade a shovel and that was refreshing. He had a good heart for people. He always looked at how his decisions would affect staff before making it final. He also had a wonderful sense of humour. He will be missed by many I’m sure. My thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time however, memories will keep him alive in many hearts.

I was a local union president while Bill was the ADM for Southern Ontario. In all my dealings with him I found him to be reasonable, thoughtful, very familiar with the subject under discussion, and best of all he was practical. He cut through the nonsense ( and there was always some on both sides) and came to a solution we could live with. When I subsequently became a senior manager in Toronto I remembered his approach to problems and did all I could to emulate his style. He was an A-one leader and very much missed when he left our Region. May I extend my thoughts and prayers to all his loved ones.

My deepest condolences to your family. It is with sadness I learned of Bill’s passing. I had worked with him and for him during my career at CRA and owe him thanks for the trust that he had while I worked for him when he was Assistant Deputy Minister of the Ontario Region. He was a manager from the old school… one that you could trust to always “tell it as he saw it”… no organizational politics… just the unvarnished truth. I always appreciated that and felt that I could always approach him for his advice. It was a sad moment for the Ontario Region when he left to go east… and I sincerely hope that he enjoyed his years with his family. May he rest in peace.

Dear Angie
I was saddened to learn of Billy’s death. It was such fun to be included in the Brewster evenings with far-reaching discussions on the virtues of vegetables and on lost luggage. I will always think of him when I hear ‘Proud Mary’.
Keeping you and the family in my thoughts and prayers.
