Lorraine, Mike and Angie;
I Just saw the obituary today. I am very sorry for your loss. I have fond memories of getting in trouble with Mike and Angie over the years. I ended up working at the dockyard and frequently stopped in the hall for a chat with Brian. He was a great man and will be missed.

To the Clyburne family, please accept my sincerest condolences. I just heard the sad news from one of my military friends at Cape Scott. Living out of the country for the past 5 years, one tends to miss out on important news however when I was passed this sad information I had to take a moment to reflect on your sad loss. As a military member of the acoustic world I valued and admired Brian’s professionalism, his capacity for knowledge and his deep dedication to his craft. We worked together on a couple of projects and at times I felt like the poor second cousin to this very smart individual. He has helped guide and provide great advice to me and my fellow Sonar CPOs who have worked with him. He was a true professional. I have worked with many civilian acousticians and Brian was one of the best. To the Clyburne Clan, many thanks for sharing him with the Navy because we are that much better for it. My prayers are with you all. God bless.

To Brian’s Family
I was very shocked and saddened when I read Brian’s obit in the paper yesterday. I am so sorry for your loss. My late husband, Joe MacLean, worked with Brian in the dockyard. I had the opportunity to meet him when he drove to work with us a few times, many many years ago. Brian had us both in stitches telling us about how fussy of an eater he was as he shared the story of his meal on his wedding day. Driving in traffic is something I can do without, but that day we didn’t notice it as we were totally entertained by Brian’s story. This is my memory of him and I know from my own experience, your memories of him will be very welcomed in the days and years ahead.
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this heartbreaking and very difficult time.

Dear Lorraine,
We are in disbelief and heartbroken that Brian has passed. In the 30 plus years our families have known each other as friends and former neighbors, Brian was one of a kind. Brian was the best neighbor we ever had, his kindness, humor, friendliness and especially the fact that he was always the first person we could always count on when the need was there for anything, goes without saying.
Many a good time we had, the parties, the pool, playing video games, summers spending evenings on the patio, the stories we could always talk about when we got together over the years, these are memories we will always have.
Lorraine, Angie and Mike, we were so lucky to have him in our lives as you were to have him as your husband and father. We loved him and respected him, that part was easy, missing him won’t be.
Our thoughts and our love will be with you always, take care and bless you.

I worked with Brian in Underwater Weapons, at H.M.C. Dockyard for 15 years. Bryan and I had a good working relationship. He was easy going with a good sense of humour. During retirement he sent me a good many e-mail jokes, some I still have, that I will miss receiving. My condolences to Lorraine, children and family. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
