Obituary of Douglas W. Munro

Douglas Wayne Munro, age 73 of Dartmouth (formerly of Fredericton NB), passed away on Tuesday, February 19th, 2019, at the Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Scotsburn, NS, he was the son of the late Hugh MacLeod Munro AND Marcella Jean (Dickson) Robertson (Formerly Munro). Doug was a devoted family man who cared for his wife Sandi at home until her passing in 2007. Doug enjoyed skiing, golfing, and his many family vacations. He enjoyed keeping in touch with his many business colleagues whom he greatly admired. Some of his favorite times were weekend adventures to Pictou County with the boys. A career banker, Doug retired first from HSBC in Fredericton, NB, and later from UMA Finance in Waverley, NS. Doug is survived by sons Scott of Halifax and Todd of Vancouver; sister-in-law Marie Reaburn, as well as many nieces and nephews. Beside his parents, Doug was predeceased by wife Sandi (MacDonald) Munro, and brothers Byron and Larry Munro. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Dartmouth General Emergency Department for their wonderful care and service. Honoring Doug’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Doug’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
