I also was a good friend of Gwen’s we called each other Sisters, our Birthdays was either the same day or a day apart. We had good times in Pugwash N.S. We sang in nice choir Ivor Reece had another great person, he directed and I played piano for it. R.I. P Gwen and one day I would love to sing again with you in God’s Heavenly Choir. I remember Gwen as a beautiful person and with a wonderful laugh. We enjoyed her living on Spencer Ave. She would drop over and have long talk and a sugar cookie. Gwen was such a nice human being, who along with her son Danso have inspired me dearly in continuing to pursue my art career. I was deeply saddened by the news when I met Thomas, her brother, yesterday. My deepest condolences to the Simmonds family.

Gwen has touch many people in her walk of life, her love for God and people and family was always so important, she was one of a kind. She took a strong stand for all that was right, her values was always on the high level. Always so painful when our loved ones and friends leave us. But even when Gwen was in the Hospital she had that smile. Family grow old and strong in the Love of your Mom and at this time of sorrow allow God to carry you at this most difficult time. What a beautiful celebration of Gwenny’s life at her church today! It was evident how well-loved and respected she was. Gwenny was very caring and supportive of me, and I will always remember and appreciate her kindness and love. Tesfa, Danso and Taayo, you should be very proud of your mother. Gwen will always be remembered for her strength, humility, aliveness and compassion. My heartfelt condolences to you Tesfa, Danso, Taayo and entire family which I am apart of. May you find comfort in knowing that Gwen your Mom knew her Lord and Savior and served him tithe end, God has called her to a higher place, she now has no pain or suffering. I’m glad I had the opportunity to spend time with her in her last days. She loved her family, always had that smile. I had the privilege growing up-to babysit her and her siblings. Gwen was a special person displaying strong convictions and opinions. She was not afraid to stand up for her values. We valued her friendship and she was a kind person with a good heart.
