Bernadette (McInnis) Gilmet Reserve MInes It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the sudden passing of our dear wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Bernadette Gilmet on Monday, February 25, 2019 at the QE11, Halifax with her family by her side. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Joseph and Mary Agnes (Hest) McInnis. She was a devote member of St. Joseph’s Church, Reserve MInes, In her pastime she enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Bernadette loved to have fun, was the life of the party, she was funny but voiced her opinion. She was known as the washer toss queen. Bernadette is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Calvin Gilmet; her children, Denise Lewis, Bernie Gilmet and Leigh Ann Gilmet (Shaun); her precious grandchildren, Brandon and Kelsey Gilmet and Justin Haley; brothers, Joseph McInnis, Ray McInnis, and Clarence (Dot) McInnis; sister, Mary (Pete) O’Brien; special nephew, Jamie Gilmet, along with numerous nieces and nephews, the extended Gilmet family; many close friends as well as her four legged friends, Shelby, Maggie, Molly, Jake and Foxy. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son-in-law Gerard Lewis. The family would like to that the paramedics, the Reserve Mines Fire Department, the doctors and nurses of the CBRH Emergency Department and the ICU of the QE11 for all your care and compassion given to Bernadette. Cremation has taken place. A memorial mass will be held 2: 00 p.m.Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Church, Reserve Mines, with Fr. Daniel Boudreau officiating. Reception to follow in the church basement. Burial to take place at a later date in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in Bernadette’s memory made be made to a charity of choice.
