To my cousins and their families,
Aunt Gert was the last of the Lambert/Gibb girls….she was a lovely person…always smiling and laughing…may you find comfort knowing that she was loved by a multitude of people and that she is now back with Uncle Ernie, our grandparents and her siblings…sharing stories, laughs and I’m sure a cup of tea or coffee….

It was with great sadness when I read that Gertie had passed, when I look back in my life there are a few people that influence and kept you on the straight and narrow, Gertie was one of those. She impacted a great many people and did not mix words but you can believe she never wasted time with you unless she cared.
I will have many great memories and funny stories, I can not remember a time she was not part of our family. She taught me a lot about the restaurant and much about life, and in true respect the Ardmore was also known as Gerties place.
With great admiration and love
Darrell and Kore-Lee

Ron and I are so sorry to hear about Gertie. It was a chock to read about it in the paper. Gertie was going to be someone who lived forever…. She was a wonderful women who was an inspiration for hard work and lots of laughs (both of which could be done at the same time). Barb, Tracy and the whole family, we are thinking about you and sending our heart felt sympathy.

So sorry to hear of Gertie’s passing. The obituary was her all the way. She lived her life to the fullest. I have known her since my teen years. We had so many stories to share and her sense of humour was awesome. She is a legend from the Ardmore Tea Room which I also worked in my early years. My condolences to all her family at this time who were all so good to her. Her stories will always live on. Barb Lawrence and Family (Jenkins)

Aunt Gertie will be missed by all of us. I was so fortunate to have one last family feast with her earlier this year. It brought back many memories of my childhood living right next door. My heart goes out to my cousins who stood by me when mom passed in March. Carol and Gertie are together again for their evenings in the gardens.

Always remember going to the Ardmore with my dad back in late 60’s and early 70’s. It was always busy and the room was full of hard working guys. Gerty could work that room like nobody else and have fun doing it. She knew what everyone ordered and just got it done. I was in my teens and it still is fresh in my mind at 57 how good she was at what she did. The people at the Ardmore were very lucky when she walked in the door . I think both sides were happy that day, boss and employee .Very glad I met here , very sorry for your loss, sounds like a life well lived. Eric Grant and my late dad, Doug who loved it there. It was his little break when he wasn’t working and she made sure he enjoyed it.
