Obituary of Roderick M. Smith

Roderick M. Smith, 65, of Upper Kennetcook passed away Dec. 20, 2016 in Halifax at the VG. Born in Halifax he is the son of Barbara (Edwards) and the late Reuel Smith. Rod was an avid outdoors-man who enjoyed all aspects of nature including hunting, fishing, but most of all he loved his garden. He would spend hours tending to his garlic. Rod was a carpenter by trade who took great pride in any project he put his hands on. After decades of work in the Halifax Dockyard, he was promoted to Contract Inspector with DND. he loved his work and was very passionate with everything he did. Rod was a compassionate person who cared very deeply for his family, dropping anything to be at his families side for any given circumstance. Rod is survived by his Mother Barbara (Edwards), sons, Bradley and Colin, and many nephews and nieces. Rod was predeceased by his Father, Reuel, and brother, Gordon. Funeral Arrangements have been in trusted to T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday Dec. 28, in St. Margaret of Scotland Anglican Church, 3761 Robie St., Halifax. A Reception will follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Interment will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
