Obituary of Elsa ‘Elsie’ Wallace

WALLACE (Chaddock), Elsa “Elsie” Georgina. It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Elsie on February 23, 2017, surrounded by her loving family, after a short but very courageous battle with cancer. Elsie was born June 1, 1934, in Jollimore Village where she lived until her adult life – a place which she always held close to her heart. She was the daughter of Edwin (Ted) Arthur Chaddock and Viola Irene Johnson. In 1952, Elsie met Jack “Bill” Wallace, the love of her life, at a dance at the Olympic Gardens. They married a year later and started their family. Elsie worked for 25 years at the VG Hospital in various departments until her retirement in 1991. Elsie and Bill spent the last 35 years living in Enfield, close to their two daughters and their families. Elsie took tremendous pride in her beautiful home and gardens. She and Bill enjoyed time with their friends at the Tim Hortons Coffee Club (Elmsdale), and many trips to St. Pete Beach (Florida). She also bowled for many years at the Bowlarama (Forest Hills). Elsie is survived by Bill, her loving husband of 63 years, daughters Linda (Bobby) Wilson and Helen (Donnie) Langille, both of Enfield; her two loving grandchildren, Katie (Paul) McGrory (Toronto) and Keith (Holly Chessman) Wilson (Dartmouth); her great-grandson, Clarke McGrory and her great-grandchild-to-be, Baby Wilson, due in July. She will also be greatly missed by her brother-in-law Les White, many nieces, nephews and their families as well as her friends. Elsie adored her family and her precious little dog, Wally. Elsie was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Morgan; her twin sister and best friend, Elizabeth “Betty” White and her nephew, Bradley White. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, March 3rd at 2 pm at St. Margaret’s Anglican Church, 5639 Highway 2, Oakfield. There will be no visitation or reception at her request. Cremation has taken place, with interment to follow at a later date. Family flowers only. Her wish is that donations in her memory may be made to St. Margaret’s Anglican Church.
