Obituary of R. Garfield Morrison
Please share a memory of R. to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Morrison, R. Garfield, age 69, of Dartmouth, died at home on June 2, 2017, ending a brave battle with ALS. Born in Sydney, he was a son of the late Robert and Marian Morrison. Garfield was a proud, loyal member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers and working in the trade for 25 years. He was a member of Shearwater and Dartmouth Yacht Clubs, an avid sailor for many years. Those who knew him understood he feared no one and nothing. He was quick witted and a great story teller. He will be missed. He is survived by his wife, best friend and first mate, Christine (Wallace) of 39 years; brothers, Adrian (Patricia), Clifford (Cheryl), Bob (Petsorn); sister, Janice; and his special friend, Susan Young. At his request, there will be no service. Donations in memory made be made to ALSNBNS Society. The family has since learned that Garfield was Nova Scotia’s first ALS patient to request Medical Assistance In Dying (MAID). Cremation has been entrusted to T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Bedford (902) 835-4212. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.tjtracey.com
