Heard yesterday of Garfield’s passing. I thought he did the honorable exit, just as he’d lived…I watched Garfield work at SYC for ages on marinas. He treated me well, he called them as he saw it, and I found him a very fair man. In short, I knew him as a mans man in a world thought they surpassed getting things done… We need more of him…head down, git ér done and get the fk out of the way if you have no intention of getting on with it. Forever my respect …RIP Garfield…..
PS…today your old boat was sailing right behind me and I looked back “Garfield’s Boat”.

Christine & Morrison Family; sorry for your great loss. When my elderly mother (Agnes MacInnis) was alive and living alone on North Granville St., Port Hawkesbury, one lonely evening Garfield dropped in to visit when he was in Town. Mom said that was the most thoughtful gesture a person could do as she missed the old ways of just dropping by as Garfield’s grandfather used to do. When my husband & I were walking at St. Peter’s Marina we saw Garfield. He treated us like royalty, introducing us to his lovely wife and giving us a tour of his boat. He is now at peace. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Adrian, Clifford, Bob and Janice.
Mom gave us the terrible news early this morning. We did know from Roberta that Garfield had ALS but this news was still shocking and sad. The last conversation I had with Garfield was at a boxing match at the forum where Dad and I ran into Garfield and Adrian. I recall Dad being very pleased and entertained with the conversation…yes Garfield was a real story teller.
Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time. As a young fellow, I often followed behind Garfield at a safe distance. There was an excitement in just being near him. You never did know what he would be up to….yes he had no fear…a real leader.
Peace
Rod, Lynn Corbett and the Corbett family.
