ROSS, Annabell June, age 91 of Middle Sackville passed away September 9th in the Dartmouth General Hospital after courageously battling a brief illness. June was born in Windsor Forks in 1926 and was the daughter of Robie and Annabell Palmer. June was a retired Sergeant from the Canadian Armed Forces and in 1957, represented CFB Greenwood as their Apple Blossom Princess. Prior to joining the military, June lived in Waverley and helped her family in their business, Palmer’s Lodge and Beach. After retiring, she lived in Berwick, Nova Scotia but in recent years, moved to Sackville, eventually moving in with her sister, Sue and brother-in-law, David Grace. She loved travelling with Dave and Sue, especially to real estate conventions, where she enjoyed socializing and sightseeing. June also loved her cats, Bandit & Smokey, and enjoyed a good book. June is survived by her sister Sue (David) Grace, niece, Danielle MacKenzie (Jason), niece, Angela Patterson (Bruce), niece, Michelle Donaldson (David), nephew, Scott Grace (Kelly) niece and nephew, Kim and Jack Pickard, husband, Bill Ross, step-daughters, Pat Starrett & Joan Gee and many nieces and nephews. June was predeceased by her parents, her brothers, Henry (infancy) and John Palmer; sisters, Thelma Pickard and Dawn Palmer. Special thanks goes out to the staff at Dartmouth General, 3rd Floor, for your empathy & care. A memorial service will be held at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church (954 Old Sackville Rd) at 2 pm on Monday, Sept 18th with a reception to follow.
