Doreen Maria Carroll (Kline), 73 of Bedford passed away on October 15, 2017 surrounded by her family in the QEII Hospital, Halifax. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia she was a daughter of the late George and Catherine Kline. Doreen enjoyed participating in many community organizations predominantly the Stitchery Guild of Bedford, Photographic Society of America and the Photographic Guild of Nova Scotia. A consummate volunteer, she gave her time and energy to many causes. She volunteered and held leadership roles with the Canadian Cancer Society, Saint John XXIII Parish, Heart & Stroke Foundation and the Auxiliary of the IWK Hospital. Doreen was proud of her family who took strength from her supportive nature, honesty, humility, compassion, positive outlook and generosity. She has always been a role model for her daughters and their families. A lifelong crafter, Doreen found pleasure in learning new skills. Sewing, needlepoint, and quilting were a few of her passions, but nothing compared to her love of travel. She never turned down the opportunity for a road trip, and loved nothing more than to ‘go for a drive’. Survived by her husband of 52 years, Terry Carroll; daughters, Elizabeth (Paul) Casey of Bedford, Deborah (Richard) Ackroyd of Waterloo, ON, Heather (Andrew) Travers of Bedford, and Pamela (Joseph Drake) Carroll of Timberlea; grandchildren, Hannah and Sophie Casey, Emma & William Travers, Jade & Tristan Drake, sister, Donna Ritchie; and brother Ronald Kline. Doreen’s family recognizes the physicians and health care teams who provided needed care with great compassion throughout her illness and would like to thank: Dr. Renn Holness, Dr Simon Walling, Dr Amy MacAskill and Dr Dorianne Rheaume. Also doctors and nursing staff on 7A, QEII Victoria General Hospital for their care to Doreen and her family. Your kindness and compassion are truly appreciated. Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, or charity of your choice. Funeral mass will be held Friday, October 20th at 10 am in Saint Ignatius Parish, Bedford, NS. Officiated by Father Pat Cosgrove and Father Owen Connolly. Reception will follow in the parish hall. Arrangements have been entrusted to T. J.
