On behalf of myself (Brenda Steed-Ross) and my family, we are sending our sincerest and heartfelt condolences, love and prayers to the family who are also our family. Ma (Velma) is my Uncle John Carvery’s granddaughter. Ma and I had a close relationship and I loved her very much. She will be sadly missed, especially spending time with her at the Annual Africville Family Reunions. Until we meet again my Cousin and my Friend. May you Rest In Eternal Peace in Paradise. Velma and were friends more like sisters from 1973 until she passed We would hang out every weekend I was here going to college and she was working at Ben's bakery I would hang out at her Mother's and her house on Herring Cove Rd when she got her own place. I loved her and would go visit her whenever I came home. Her brothers were like my brothers and her family like my family. love to her sonTony and her brother Granville God bless you both.

To Tony, Crystal and family and Granville and family. Sending love, hugs and prayers! Our condolences from me, Layton and Jordan I knew Ma since I was 18 yrs old and we share many memories, good and some not so good. But through it all our friendship lasted right thru our 70 s. Velma was aunt to my son Geoffrey (RIP). We met once a month to go to lunch with our friends, George and Florence and shared laughs..I will Miss you my friend, , our phone chats.Till we meet again! RIP
