Obituary of Angela Lynn McKegney

Please share a memory of Angela to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Angela Lynn McKegney, aged 56 of Lr. Sackville - It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Angela Lynn (Piper) McKegney on August 27, 2024, at her home in Mahone Bay after a long battle with mental illness. Angela was born in Halifax to Charles (1939-2021) and Carol Piper (nee Silver). A loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend; she arrived into this world with an amazing free spirit, and was a going concern since the day she was born. Her love for her family, friends, and even people she’d just met was enormous and all-encompassing. Angela was pre-deceased by her beloved son, Samuel and loving father, Charles. She is survived by her son, Joseph (Aislinn); husband, Gary; brother, Brad (Lynn); mother, Carol; and Papa, Peter Foy. Angela has been cremated and will be buried in a private ceremony at Oakridge Memorial Gardens. The family knows how many people she touched, and encourage all who knew her to gather, honour her memory and celebrate her many eccentricities. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia. Angela was very proud of the BA in English she earned from St. Mary’s University while a single mom and was always dabbling in poetry. Her family would like to leave you all with this: If you suddenly and unexpectedly feel joy,
don’t hesitate. Give in to it. There are plenty
of lives, and whole towns destroyed or about
to be. We are not wise, and not very often
kind. And much can never be redeemed.
Still, life has some possibility left. Perhaps this
is its way of fighting back, that sometimes,
something happened better than all the riches
or power in the world. It could be anything,
but very likely you notice it in the instant
when love begins. Anyway, that’s often the case.
Anyway, whatever it is, don’t be afraid
of its plenty. Joy is not made to be a crumb.
