At the reception following the Memorial Service, I am sorry I had to leave early and did not have an opportunity to share with David , Mark and families my fond memories of Jean. I was fortunate to share a hug with her special friend Cathie Daniels and was able to enjoy some brief time with many of her and my colleagues from Student Services at the HSB. Jean genuinely cared about people, especially children, and always was refreshingly direct in her dealings. While this is a time of sadness, all who new her know our community was improved by her presence. Linda joins me in expressing sincere and heartfelt condolences to all of you that were close to her.

I would like to extend my condolences to the family at this sad time. I worked with your mother at the School board many years ago. She was the Truancy Officer there as you know and she would get a call from the school that a student hadn’t shown up and she would jump in her car to go and find them. She always had lots of stories to tell – most of them pretty sad ones. I remember her being a very loving and caring person and often wondered over the years how she was doing.

Mark and David, onhalf of my family we extend our sincere wishes to you. Your mom was a special lady and friend to my mom and Nina Smith and her family. They went back to school days and to have a friend that long to share the ups and downs of this journey has been remarkable. I think of you often as I drive by Morningside Drive. May your memories stay in a peaceful place.

Mark and David and family
Krista and I send our thoughts and prayers to you and your family. I remember your mother as being very warm and kind with a great sense of humour. Mark, to this day I laugh to myself whenever I think of the story you tell about your mother going to get David his “gift” when flying back from Rome with Angie and the girls. I will always remember your mother whenever I think of that story. God bless all.
