Glace Bay

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joan MacDougall at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, on Friday, August 9, 2024.

Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Michael ‘Mickey’ and Laura ‘Laul’ (Gouthro) MacDougall.

Joan was employed as an x-ray technician and later went into education, teaching at numerous schools retiring from the Cape Breton District School Board.

Joan is survived by her two sisters-in-law, Norma and Mary; several nieces and nephews, Laura, Tom, Anne, Michelle, Richard, Joanne and Pat as well as many great nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Gerard, Henry and Basil; sister, Michelle ‘Eula’.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Friday, August 16, 2024 at 1:00 p.m at T. J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, with Ft. Macleen officiating. Burial to follow in St. Anne's Cemetery, Wallace Rd.Glace Bay.
