Al was a neighbour of ours who I had many great conversations with. Al will be missed by family and all who knew him. Some may not know this, but Al could shoot hoops and rarely miss. I always enjoyed watching Al shoot hoops competing against the younger boys on the street…..and of course Al always won. Condolences to family and friends.

Jane & Family. I am saddened for your loss. Al was a wonderful brother-in-law. Tom and I always loved having Jane and Al join us for special dinner occasions. He loved lemon pie, and I usually tried to have a freshly baked one for him. Rest in peace, sweet man!

Al was a very dear friend of my parents. When both parents died within 4 years of each other and left 3 grieving daughters behind, we never would have been able to cope without his support and loving guidance. My sisters and I are saddened by the passing of this wonderful man and send our most heartfelt condolences to Jane and his family.

I knew Al through accounting and Municipal Government. At our annual conference we used to do comedic short one act plays . Al was the writer of one play in which I had the pleasure of being one of the actors. Besides being an excellent accountant, he also was a good comedic writer. Al was a great guy. MY CONDOLENCES TO HIS WIFE AND FAMILY.

One of my fondest memories of Al is the day we were playing catch in Mira. Al was whipping the ball the way a softball pitcher does, so I got the bat and crouched down as low as I could to give him the smallest strike zone possible. Of course, he threw a perfect strike right across my knees.
Our sincere condolences to Jane Ann and the family. We will all miss Al’s great sense of humour.

Sorry for your loss of a great family man. I remember Al from high school sports and visiting your family in Westmount, Mary and I were friends. When Archie and I were at junior college 69-71 we played badminton at Riverview. Al was living in Glacé Bay and we dropped in to visit Al and Jane. I think we played cards. It was a delightful evening with lots of laughs. Archie also had great laughs with Eddie. Grief comes in waves but good memories sure help make us smilie. Gail MacKiegan

I remember Al.
Al and I played on the Sydney River White Sox, a Little League Team. Al had an amazing glove hand.
He was a quiet, kind, and thoughtful guy. His brother Gordon was a high school classmate of my sister Judith. He was one among many of my special Westmount friends. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. His obituary rings true for me.

WE HAD THE HONOR OF GETTING TO KNOW AL DURING THE DAYS OF THE CAPE BRETON OILERS. I THINK WE HAD MORE FUN TALKING DURING THE GAMES THEN WATCHING THE GAMES, EXCEPT THE YEAR THEY WON THE CALDER CUP WHEN EVERYONE ENJOYED THE CELEBRATION. A FEW YEARS AGO MANAGED TO TO RUN INTO AL AND WE BOTH KNEW EACH OTHER AND WE ASKED HOW EACH WAS DOING AND REMINISCED ABOUT THE CAPE BRETON OILERS. AL ALWAYS FOUND THE TIME THE TIME TO TALK. OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHIES TO HIS FAMILY AT THIS MOST DIFFICULT TIME. RIP BIG AL.
