It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Jo-Anne MacIntosh on Friday, June 21, 2024, at the QE11 Health Sciences, Halifax, NS.
Born in Glace Bay, to the late Stephen and Martina (MacDonald) MacIntosh. Jo-Anne graduated from St. Michael High School, St. F.X. University with a B.A., and later Mount Saint Vincent with a B.Sc. in Home Economics. She was employed in various fields, Cara Food Services, Armdale Nursing Home, Cole Harbour Rehabilitation Centre and Dartmouth General. Jo-Anne was well respected by her co-workers and made many lasting friendships.
Jo-Anne took immense pleasure in spending quality time with all her nieces and nephews. Wayne and Jo-Anne spent their summers camping, boating, and visiting friends and relatives. They looked forward to their annual trips to Florida.
Jo-Anne is survived by her loving husband, Wayne Evans, Sambro Head; mother-in-law, Alice Evans, Sydney; brother, Stephen (Bev), Glace Bay, sisters, Kaye (Paul) Black. Ben Eion, Paula (Greg) Sampson, Glace Bay; sisters-in-law, Cheryl MacIntosh, Ottawa, Patti (Allan) Davidson, PEI, Kim Evans; brother-in-law, Kenny (Betty) Sydney; as well as loving nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her father-in-law, Jack Evans, stepson, Stephen Evans; brother, Angus ‘Gus’ MacIntosh; sister Donna LeBlanc; brother-in-law, Paul Evans.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Friday, June 28,2024 from 1-2 p.m. with a celebration of life to follow at 2 p.m. with Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating at T. J.Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay. Interment to take place in St. Anne’s Cemetery, Wallace Road
Donations may be made to the S.P.C.A. or charity of choice.
