Oh my, I just ran across Tom’s obituary. I am very sorry for your loss and so sad to hear of Tom’s passing. I took online backgammon lessons with Tom a couple of decades ago when the online backgammon website GamesGrid was still in operation. Tom shared with me that he learned backgammon in Las Vegas, studying with backgammon professionals who worked the casinos there. Tom also had a very high backgammon ranking on GamesGrid. He had a positive effect on my life; he was a great instructor and good friend. ~ Don Brabson (USA).

Peggy, James and Matt. Although you don’t know me, I feel as though I know all of you. Tom spoke of you often during the eleven years I worked with him at the Halifax lab. I was surprised and saddened to hear of Tom’s passing. Hello Peggy, James and Matt. My condolences on Tom’s passing. Working with him at the Lab in Halifax was the highlight of my career. We often talked poker and backgammon and always found a way to laugh to keep our work environment more cheerful. After I took leave to raise my kids, he would often share his watermelon with my infant son Mason when I brought him into the lab for a visit. Tom was a great person and I shall always remember working with him.

To Tom’s family. I knew Tom his whole career in the Forensic lab and shared his time in Ottawa as he wound down his career. It was a pleasure to have worked with him. I wish we had the time for him to make me a better backgammon player. My condolences on your loss.

Peggy, James and Matt, As a Sgt in Vancouver I served with Tom for many years, on many cases, and he seemed to relish getting the most complicated files. My last few years were here in Halifax, where I worked directly with him in the Lab before retiring. He had a ‘marvelous’ sense of humour, and kept me stretched when it came to strategizing case results. After retirement we happened to bump into each other on occasion in Kingswood and he always was interested in what retirement would be like. Please accept our sincere condolences, and our thoughts and prayers are with you as a family.

I worked with Tom for many years at the lab in Halifax where I was a clerk for Biology Section. Tom was always polite and kind to me and I have always appreciated it. I was shocked and very sad to hear of his passing at such a young age. My condolences to his family and friends.

We went to the same high school in Winnipeg and he headed out to the Regina lab as I was being transferred back to the Winnipeg lab, so our lives crossed paths many times. I am so sorry to hear of Tom’s passing. I grew up with Tom in Winnipeg. We attended the same Junior High School (Isaac Newton), and then went on to attend High School (Sisler) together.
