My condolences to rob’s family he was a good man and a good friend who will be missed. I grew up in #11 with Robbie and had many many fun times and memories. Once we were going to a party in Dominion there was a few of us buddies Me(Derek) Robbie, Michael, Allan and I think Johner may have been there. We were all bout 15/16 years old and well we were buzzed on our way to the party! We were waking down the main st of Dominion and came across a phone booth not sure why but we crammed into the phone booth and Robbie couldn’t quite fit in twe didn’t know it but his hand was caught in the door we were all laughing and S—-t. Well everyone wore steel toe pit boots in the day and Robbie used his that night lol he kicked the sides of the booth and it exploded there were little pieces of glass everywhere. So then we’re off running thru yards and yards in a town we didn’t know lol. Eventually we found the party. We walked in and there was an old lady with a dark lense and a clear lense in her glasses that kinda freaked us out a bit lol. Then Michael says to the old girl “ pretty freaky snowstorm we had the other day eh”. They were just staring at us but we didn’t know we were covered in little cuts from the shattered Phonebooth.
God knows what they thought of us lol. Will never forget that night and it’s almost 45 years ago.
You will never be forgotten Doodle RIP brother. Derek Beaton

We were both 13 and shared a long kiss in #11. I thought the kiss was too long, but that's how 13 old's roll. More recently we found each other through Facebook and we chatted whenever he had a phone and internet. There were periods of long silences that caused me to worry about him, but I'm in Ontario. One of our mutual friends would check on him once in awhile; she'd take him for a drive and tell me he was okay. He wouldn't hurt a fly and he did not belong where he ended up. I hope he was warm!

So sorry to hear of Robbie’s (Doodles as us kids called him, who grew up with him ) was a kind, loving kid, and a friend to many, always had a smile . I had the opportunity to speak to him many times over the last 2 years, as he battled addiction, and lived in and out of the homeless shelter in Sydney. I was a walker and I would walk downtown and had many great chats with Robbie about the old days growing up and going to St. Anthony’s school . You will be sadly missed old friend. Rest in peace, no more sadness or pain…
