Obituary of Michael Norman MacIntyre

We are saddened to announce the passing of Michael Norman MacIntyre, 87, on January 23, 2024, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in French Road, Cape Breton, Michael was the son of the late Joe Hugh and Margaret (MacKinnon) MacIntyre. Mike lived in Toronto and drove for TTC and Greyhound Bus Lines before returning to Cape Breton, where he drove for the Sydney Whitney and Pier Bus Company. Mike was a quiet and reserved outdoors type, who enjoyed fishing, cutting firewood, and driving around his back 40 on his four-wheeler. Mike travelled to the Philippines, where he met and married the love of his life, Belinda. Belinda was a devoted wife, and for the past number of years, his caregiver while he battled leukemia. Mike is survived by his wife, Belinda; stepdaughter, Joyce Salgados; mother-in-law, Cayetana Salgados, and Belinda’s siblings in the Philippines. Also surviving is Mike’s sister, Evelyn (Hugh MacPherson), New Waterford; brother, Joe (Theresa) MacIntyre, Howie Center; sisters-in-law, Hazel (late Danny), Sydney, Lorraine (late Gussie), Whitby, Ont., Mary (late Paddy), Grand Mira South; many nieces and nephews and special nephew, Joe (Jeanette) MacIntyre, friend, Bernie MacEachern and next-door-neighbour, Mary Merriam. Besides his parents, Mike was predeceased by sisters, Ida, Mary (Larry Day), Kay (Charlie Novak), Rita and Josephine; brothers, Danny (Hazel), Gussie (Lorraine), Peter (Annie Mae); Paddy (Mary), John and Duncan in infancy. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, N.S., 902-539-7175. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Sunday, January 28, 2024, from 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held on January 29, 2024, at 10 am in the funeral home chapel, Fr. Paul Murphy officiating, a reception will follow. For those unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed, and can be viewed by visiting the T.J. Tracey Facebook page. A special thank-you to CBRH doctors, R. Kelly and Dr. McCarville and nurses and staff of 4A, EHS, Marion Bridge Fire Dept. First Responders, and Fr. Paul McGillvray, Parish Priest at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church. Belinda and family would like to thank Fr.
