Obituary of Anne Mae Pyke

Please share a memory of Anne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Anne Pyke Glace Bay It was with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anne Mae Pyke. Anne was born in 1943 in Glace Bay, NS to the late Edward and Hilda Newell. Anne spent her entire teaching career teaching at various schools in Cape Breton County but finished her career at Malcolm Monroe School in Sydney, Nova Scotia. She was a member of the Kinette Club in Glace Bay. Anne enjoyed walking daily with her dear friends, traveling to visit family, and was quite a naturopathic practitioner. She was very fond of social engagements. And of course, her grandchildren held a special place in her heart. After retirement Anne was very active with a fitness for seniors’ program, she campaigned for the heart and stroke foundation, and volunteered preparing income tax returns for people in need of this service. Anne is survived by her son, Chris (Rachel), daughter in law Monique Ouellette (Roger), granddaughter Gabryelle, grandson Jack, brothers Donald, Hector, Jim and Bill as well as many nieces and nephews and extended family. Anne was predeceased by her husband George, her son Todd, and brothers Ted and David. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to TJ Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve Street, Glace Bay, NS. (902-849-4199). Visitation will be held Monday, January 22nd, 2024, from 1 to 2 pm with a Celebration of Life to follow at 2 pm, all taking place at TJ Tracey Funeral Home in Glace Bay. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to Glace Bay Food Bank or Sydney SPCA. Words of comfort may be expressed to the Pyke family by visiting www.tjtracey.com.
