Obituary of Doug Best

We, the family, regret to announce the passing of Douglas Arthur Best, 89, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on January 9, 2024. Born in Sydney, N.S. on June 27, 1934, Doug was the son of the late Christina and Bernie Best. Doug enjoyed writing and recording music, playing the guitar as well as coaching and playing softball. He is survived by his ex-wife, Myra (Best), six sons; Kirk (Shirley), Bryon (Joan), both of Sydney, Glen (Lori), Moncton, NB, Chris (Natalie), Sydney, Vernon (Sheila), New Glasgow, and Carl (Tanya), British Columbia; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, Doug was predeceased by a sister, Marion. A big thank you to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital and Palliative Care Center for their kindness and support. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, N.S., 902-539-7175.
