Obituary of John Edward McIntyre
In loving memory of John Edward McIntyre. It is with profound sadness that we announce his passing on December 16, 2023, at Hospice Cape Breton. John, aged 59, was a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished friend to many.
Born on January 23, 1964, John spent 35 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Eileen (Carlin), and together they raised their daughter, Nicole, and shared their home with their fur baby, Molly. To John, home was not a place but a feeling, and it was with Eileen and Nikki by his side that he found his greatest joy.
John's memory will be forever cherished by his sister, Linda Ardelli of Hubbards, NS, and his brother, Sean McIntyre of St. Catharines, ON. When John and Eileen married in 1988, he embraced the Carlin family as his own, leaving a lasting impact on his mother-in-law, Ruth, sisters-in-law Elaine (Bill White), Geraldine (David Clemens), Susanne (Lloyd White), brother-in-law Michael (Becky), nieces Kiara, Shannon, Chloe, nephews Terence, Lloyd, Noah, Adam, Sheamus, and a multitude of extended family members and friends. John will be remembered by cousins, Brenda Pledge (Ron Habets), Carolyn Pledge (Franck Amaral), Patricia Pledge (Derek Dickson,) Roy Pledge with whom he had a close relationship. John is also survived by a number of Aunts, Uncles and cousins.
A skilled heavy-duty mechanic, John dedicated his career to various roles in construction and maintenance, embodying a strong work ethic and taking pride in his craftsmanship. His most recent role with the maintenance team at the Sydney airport brought him great satisfaction.
John will be remembered for his quick wit, hearty laugh, and genuine kindness. A true friend, he could always be counted on to lend a hand in times of need. Preferring to be outdoors, John enjoyed tinkering in the yard and his "man cave," as well as hitting the golf course with friends. A passionate cook, he delighted in preparing meals for his family, friends, and co-workers, with a special love for a good feed of lobster. His Saturday morning breakfast dates with Eileen were a treasured tradition, creating cherished memories.
