A life-long, dear friend of Johns', from away. My condolences to Eileen, Nikki and all the Carlin/White clan. John was a kind soul. The guy you would want to stop if you broke down on the side of the road. Not only would he stop but he would know what was wrong! John was always, and I mean always, in an upbeat mood. Even when I saw him in the hospital, just 2 months ago, he sensed that his days were numbered, and he wanted to get to Boston to see his beloved Bruins! I've been reminiscing, in my mind, all the escapades we've been on - too many to mention here. One that comes to mind is hitch-hiking to Antigonish in 1980 (Rock80). John and I were picked up on Kings Rd, this brave gal said she was going to Millville, we gladly jumped in. She dropped us off (Trans-Can), then she was on her way home. We realized we left our wineskin in the car! what are we to do? Of course we walked towards Millville, the gal saw us, she yelled " you're not going to get to Antigonish that way!". We did manage to get there, coming home was even MORE of an adventure!! Great times, lots of laughs! You, my friend, are already missed. We have golfed many times, you weren't always the best but you, by far, had the BEST time! God knows how long we will live, therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, just trust (in Him). COUSINS In a world where family ties are strong, Aunts and uncles, a harmonious throng. Cousins, like stars, scattered in the sky, Brought together, as time flew by. We grew up together, side by side, At Phyllis's and Don's cottage , we'd reside. Lobster feasts by the fire's warm glow, Creating memories, as the embers would glow. Cousin Johnny, with a twinkle in his eye, The charmer, who could make Mom comply. Her warm Schooner beer , he'd gently request, After nights of fun, he was truly blessed. We'd gather, young and old, Laughter and joy, our stories untold. From childhood to adulthood, we'd evolve, But the fun and connection, we'd always resolve. Through the years, memories we'd create, Moments of love, never to abate. Cousins united, a tapestry of delight, In each other's presence, our hearts took flight. From games in the yard to secrets shared, In each other's company, we always fared. Through ups and downs, we'd stand tall, Supporting one another, through it all. Oh, the stories we'd tell, with laughter and cheer, As we reminisce, shedding a joyful tear. For the bond we share, as cousins together, Is a treasure that time cannot weather.
