I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Doug. I met Doug early in his career in 1969 when we worked together. He was a very polite, gentle and dedicated worker who always wore a smile. May he rest in peace and our prayers go to him.

Gloria, Tara, James and extended family, We were saddened to hear of Doug’s passing. I ( Hayes) had the privilege of working with Doug for over twenty years with both the School Board and the Airport Authority. He had so many fine qualities : smart , honest, caring , appreciative of others. We became great friends and I valued his advice which he generously shared. He was a joy to work with. Doug and I grew up together in Port Morien, attended the same school as young children and were good friends. Words can’t express how saddened I am to hear of your loss. My heart is with all the family in your time of sorrow. It will take awhile to adjust not having Doug around but loosing someone so special can feel incredibly overwhelming so take a look back and take comfort in all of the beautiful memories you made. Dear Gloria, Tara, James, family and friends We were Sad when learning of Doug's passing. He and I were best friends as well as cousins growing up in Port Morien. Dougie could always be counted upon to make an appropriate comment or quip which was usually the result of his wonderful understanding of others. Similar to the words of David Peach, we all went our separate ways after those precious days together, however we made the absolute most of times when we would meet later. On one occasion (year and date I don't recall) except I know it was very special. I was behind a clothing rack at the Sears store in Halifax teasing my eldest daughter about her possible purchase. A voice on the other side of the rack said "I know your birthday and that voice." Dougie stepped around and we celebrated a short reunion with stories and laughter like it was "yesterday" that we were recalling. Especially memorable for Dougie and I, was his being in Halifax for the marriage of his daughter Tara. He took time on this busy occasion to stop and share a few more splendid moments; Today, while thinking of this journey, we are able to recall wonderful moments which keep Dougie (lightening) in our hearts and souls during these difficult days. Our sincere sympathy Gus, Shirley & girls .

Dear Gloria and family ,Wilfred and I were so saddened to learn of Doug's passing , He was just such a great guy ! I remember he spoke at a meeting one time and was so impressed by his ability to articulate in detail the issues . Often sat beside him in the choir at Sacred Heart Church in Marion Bridge . He had a great voice and the biggest smile to greet everyone . We were privileged to know him .We send our sincerest sympathy to you all and will offer our mass and prayers for Doug this Sunday .May your grief be somehow lifted in knowing what you have done caring for him . Gloria I can’t tell you how sorry I am to hear of Doug’s passing. We were not only cousins but great buddies growing up. As we grew up and went our separate ways we didn’t get to spend much time together but when we did we made the most of it with stories, laughs etc , my sincere condolences to you and your family. My heartfelt condolences to Doug's family. I worked in the accounting field as well and spent many decades as a colleague of Doug's in the education finance field. He was one of the most well respected people in the education community and was always ready to provide assistance and advice with any problem. He also had a great wit as well and always had a joke or pun to liven up the group. His legacy will live on.
