Obituary of Donald Edward LeBlanc
Please share a memory of Donald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with extreme sadness that the family of Donald Edward LeBlanc announce his passing on December 9th, 2023 at the age of 81 after a brief (2 month) battle with brain cancer. His passing occurred at the QEII Hospital in Halifax at 8:20pm, exactly two months after his mother's passing. He was surrounded by his wife and daughter.
Born in Amherst on March 26, 1942, he was the son of the late Edward and Florence LeBlanc.
Don had an extensive career in journalism and public relations. He was a writer his entire life, starting his career off reporting on Amherst little league. His career grew from being Sports Editor of the Amherst Daily News to joining Canadian Press as an editor. Relocating to Vancouver, he served as the Public Affairs Director at Kaiser Resources Ltd before assuming the position of Senior Consultant at Walden Public Relations Ltd. He eventually ventured into entrepreneurship, establishing his own PR company, Don LeBlanc Communications. In more recent years he became passionate about writing a book called Brother to Brother, Coast to Coast.
Some of his happier times included being part of a ski club in Whistler, B.C. He also enjoyed golf and curling. He loved to make people laugh and was doing so even in his final days.
Donald will be remembered by his wife Anita; daughter, Jennifer (Carlos) Meza; grandchildren, Linden and Lucia Meza; siblings, Carolyn (David) Angus, Frank, Robert (Eleanor), Bernard, Barb (Ken) Hoeg, Michael (Lori), Alan (Kim); and many nieces and nephews.
