Mary Isabelle Foley
Glace Bay, NS
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Isabelle Foley, 68, Glace Bay, NS, on September 20, 2023. Born in Glace Bay she was the daughter of the late John “Bunny” & Isabel “Belle” (Murphy) Foley.
She is survived by her siblings Tom (Peggy) Foley, Bridgetown, NS, Joseph “Billy” Foley (Linda Parlee), Paisley, ON, Anne Foley, Yarmouth, NS, Michael Foley, Glace Bay, NS as well as her dog Buddy.
She was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Patricia “Patsy” Foley, her brother and sister-in-law Alan and Arlene Foley and her brother-in-law, David Saulnier.
Mary graduated from St. Michael’s High School then went on to get her diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology from the Nova Scotia Institute of Technology sponsored by St. Rita’s Hospital, Sydney. After graduation, she worked at St. Rita’s then left to work at the Glace Bay Hospital lab until her retirement. In addition to her many physical pursuits like sailing, golfing, curling, skiing, and camping, she loved to knit and play cards, particularly crib and rumoli. She was also a Girl Guider and Scouter of over 40 years.
Anyone who knew Mary heard her stories which always included her own creative spins. She was an animated individual who could make anyone laugh. She loved to live, travel and everyone who met her, loved her. She is missed by so many.
Mary adored her nieces and nephews, Louise, Karen, Charlie, Stephen, Aaron, and Alison but of course, the sun rose and set on her grand-nieces & grand-nephews: Emilie, Addison, Connor, Mason. The members of her Stitch and Bitch and Rumoli groups would hear endless stories featuring Sophie, Haley, and Adam.
