I was very sorry and saddened to hear of Bernie's passing. While visiting my sister and brother-in-law (Frances & Bo) he would come in full of the devil, joking and laughing. Again my sister commented on several occasions that he was a good neighbor and good friend, always ready to lend a helping hand. I had the good fortune of having a great conversation with him recently driving from Halifax to Antigonish to meet his partner Ann. He talked about how he had a great time growing up on Mira Road and the close friends he had made - lots of stories. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered.

I bowled with Bernie for 18 years before moving away. I remember the night he had 4 strikes in a row. A very rare thing in candlepin. Bernie was always so joyful, he made others laugh with his words and animations. Sad indeed to hear of his passing. Such good times in those days. Iain Matheson

I want to express my deepest sympathy to all of Bernie's dear family. He was such a nice guy and so kind. Every year he would buy a tree ornament and place it on our tree of memories at the nursing home. I offer my condolences to all of the family. May God strengthen you all during this sad time. I am shocked and sad to read of Bernie's death. I am so very sorry Leasa, Trevor and Ann Ley as well as grandchildren. He and Barb were wonderful neighbours to my brother when he lived next door on Hills Rd. and Brian always had a funny 'Bernie' story to share. Know you're in my thoughts. Love Lynn
