Obituary of Krista Elizabeth Gardiner
We, the family, are devastated by the loss of our sister, aunt and friend, Krista Gardiner on May 5, 2023, at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital. Born in Glace Bay, Krista was the daughter of the late Michael and Sally Gardiner.
Krista marched to the beat of her own drum and when with her you couldn't help but dance to that beat. Krista loved her family and friends fiercely. She enjoyed fires in Iona with her friends Vicky, Raylene, Priscilla, Ronnie, and Lynn.
Krista is survived by her sisters Shelly McNeil, Stephanie (Jerry) Currie , Melanie MacIntyre, and sister-in-law Pam Gardiner.
She is also survived by her loved nieces Jan (Mike) , Mandy (Dave) , Michelle (Ryan) Sarah (Jordan) and Marsha (Rob); nephews Matthew, Kyle (Alicia), Ryan, Michael (Jamie), Mark (Kathleen) and Milan whom she loved very much. As well as her furry "son" Hopey. Also left behind are her grandnieces and grandnephews whom she thought of her as her own. "Aunt Kissy" was a great friend to all of them.
Krista leaves behind her great friends and coworkers Margaret and Jacqueline from Infection control.
Besides her parents, Krista was predeceased by her brothers Paul and Michael and brother-in-law Wendell.
The family would like to thank Victoria Order of Nurses for the care and comfort they provided Krista at home. They would also like to say a special thank you to 2nd Floor Medical at New Waterford hospital for the compassion they showed during her final days.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, 902-539-7175. Visitation will be held in T.J. Tracey Funeral Home Thursday, May 11, 2023 from 9:30am until funeral service at 11am with Father Norman MacPhee presiding, reception to follow. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery, MacLeod's Road Glace Bay.
