Obituary of Ahmed Rushdi

Ahmed “Russ” Rushdi, entrepreneur, died peacefully Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at the age of 80, in Halifax Nova Scotia. Russ was polarizing man, both charismatic and fierce. Iranian by birth, growing up in Karachi Pakistan, he immigrated to Canada and eventually settled in Nova Scotia where he raised a family with his late wife Sylvia Sara Rushdi. Russ, lived life to the fullest of his ability, having been an avid traveler, a trait which both his surviving children have had the privilege to experience in their youth. In business he was a force to be reckoned with and built a reputation for himself with his quick thinking and wit. With more than two decades as a Realtor and Broker owner of Homeowners Realty he prospered in the landscape of the Halifax Real Estate market. Russ’s unmatched passion for business was closely followed by his other two interests of camping with his family at Kejimukujik National Park and his desire to find the perfect meal. He is survived by his two children, Nadia & Justin and his two grandchildren Reid & Aaron. His wife Sara died in June of 2022. Russ died peacefully in Halifax after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
