Obituary of George Panagiotis Katsos

George passed away peacefully on April 8th, 2023, days after his 68th birthday in the Victoria General QEII site after a brief illness. George was born in Halifax where he spent most of his early childhood. His family moved to Montreal for a number of years. While there he worked for the Celanese Company. Upon his return to Halifax, George worked for the Halifax School Board as an Educational Program Assistant for many years. His love of music was present from an early age. George played with numerous bands in and around Halifax. George was the last surviving member of his family. Predeceased by his parents Louis and Margaret (Petropolis), his sister Petra, brothers Nick and Athan. He leaves behind his sister-in-law Linda (Toronto), her daughter Andrea (Michael) and their daughter Kelly. George was a friend to all and will be missed by his many cousins in Halifax and Montreal. He will also be missed by his faithful and constant companion his dog ‘Bear’. George will be remembered as the guy who was always smiling and a constant jokester. The family is extremely grateful for the care and kindness provided by the doctors, nurses and caregivers at the VG Hospital. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. Cremation has been intrusted to T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Halifax. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Laing House Foundation, 1225 Barrington St, Halifax NS B3J 1Y2.
