Obituary of Leona Diane (Forbes) Dezagiacomo
Please share a memory of Leona to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with immense sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Leona Diane (Forbes) Dezagiacomo on April 14, 2023, at home. She is the daughter of the late Edna (Forbes) Fisher.
A lifelong resident of Dominion, Leona was very active in the Italian Hall, as well as being a member of the Italian Choir.
Leona was very proud of her son, David, and his many accomplishments. For many years, she worked at Alec Zwarun’s in Dominion as well as doing Home Care.
Leona and Joey had the best Boxing Day party around. Their home was the place to be. Everyone left with a full belly and a full heart.
Leona is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Joey; son, David (Sherry) and grandsons Chris and Kyle; sisters Susan (Lawrence), Ruth, Wanda (Neil), Marilyn and Roberta; brother James and sister-in-law, Irene (Joe). She is also survived by Leah, Lexi, Mason, Leighton, Megan, and Malcolm who will miss their great-aunt Noni very much and by many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Leona is predeceased by mother, Edna, parents-in-law Eglie and Dominico, brothers-in-law Joe Campbell and Ernie (Buddy) MacGillivray.
As per Leona’s request, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, 902-849-4199.
A graveside service for family and friends will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at 1:00 pm at the Good Shepherd Cemetery, Centerville Road, Reserve Mines with Rev. Myrna MacMullin officiating.
