McCleave, Janet Elisabeth, of Halifax, daughter of the late Blanche (Nicholson) and James Edward “Ed” McCleave. Born in July, 1943, in Wolfville NS, she died in her 80th year on April 7, 2023. Trained at the Royal Victoria School of Nursing in Montreal, she worked as an RN in Montreal and in Halifax. Later, she went to Dalhousie University, completed a science degree, obtained an MBA, and worked for Warner Lambert in Toronto as a product manager. She enjoyed sewing and collected yards of fabric over the years. She cared for a series of cats and a little dog. Survived by sister, Patricia McCleave, Bedford; brother, Alec McCleave and sister-in-law, Heather (Chisholm), Halifax; brother, Spencer and sister-in-law Sandy Schwoebel, Tucson, Arizona; nephew, Kolya McCleave, presently in Germany; nieces, Keturah McCleave, Tucson, Julia McCleave (Tyler Held), Halifax, and Caitlin Neily (Jeremy), Upper Tantallon; and grand nieces and grand nephews, Aliana Ruiz, Zoe & Rowan McCuaig, and Gabe and Miles Neily. Janet especially appreciated the nurses and staff at the dialysis unit at the Dickson building, who were so efficient, caring, personable, and funny! She wanted to thank Dr. Keigan More and Dr. Steve Morrison, and renal social workers Sarah Goldstein and Heather Hemming, as well as Kathryn Fraser and Rania ElSouri of Eating Disorders Nova Scotia. Finally, she noted she could not have managed without her housekeeping “angel,” Maura DeMoraes, whom she was so lucky to find. A private green burial took place at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, at the family plot.
