Thank you Spencer for writing to me to inform me of Janet's passing.
I have wonderful memories of Janet (I always called her McCleave) in nursing school and afterward at the RVH reunions.
We shared many moments of laughter and fun and also some "deep thought" discussions. Janet had stories to tell and one of my favorites' was years ago, before she went into nursing, when she was speeding along an empty road to an airport and she was pulled over by the police. She was charged with dangerous driving but she felt put out by the police man because the road was clear and free of other vehicles. Janet decided to "put up the good fight" and she researched the circumstances of her drive and the legitimacy of the charges against her. Her research proved fruitful as she learned a fast moving (speeding) vehicle on a road - totally clear of other people and vehicles and posing NO threat or danger to herself or others, was permitted without a fine or charges, to continue on their/her travels with simply a reminder to slow down. I was amazed at Janet's tenacity and courage to fight the traffic charges. Tenacity and courage certainly reflected Janet's character throughout her life. She courageously enrolled in university and acquired a number of degrees after getting her RN designation. She also fought her medical battles with courage and tenacity and faced the severity of her issues with grace and dignity.
I always enjoyed our impromptu telephone and email conversations and I am sorry I will no longer connect with Janet - at least on this earthly plain!
