Obituary of Alice Elizabeth Lovett

Lovett, Alice Elizabeth "Betty" Louisbourg/North Sydney Our beautiful sister received her angel wings on Monday, March 27, 2023, at the North Sydney General Hospital (Taigh Solas) after a very brief and sudden illness. Betty was the eldest child of the late Maude and Joe Lovett, Louisbourg N.S. She was born July 1, 1942, and always looked forward to her birthday celebrations. She would remind us all of her upcoming birthday and it was celebrated in grand style. Sharing her birth date with Canada Day, she was always included as a special guest at Louisbourg's July 1 celebrations. It was a highlight for her and a very sincere thank you to the community of Louisbourg for all the happy memories. Betty spent 70 years with her parents in their family home, Warren St., Louisbourg. She was a fixture around town riding her bicycle, running errands for family, friends, and neighbours and also for her many strolls with her friends. A very dear friend, Karen Lahey, her husband Bill and their children deserve a heartfelt thanks for your love and kindness to Betty. We know Karen and Betty wore out a few pairs of sneakers !! Betty was loved and cared for by "her girls" when her parents required assistance to stay in their family home in their later years. Thank you for all the love and support. For the last 10 years, Betty resided at the North Sydney General Hospital, third floor, Taigh Solas. She called it her new "apartment". From her first day to her last she was welcomed, loved beyond measure, and cared for with respect by Dr. Hickey, Dr. Ignacio, third floor staff, families of the staff, other residents , kitchen , maintenance, and security staff and also the wonderful volunteers. Your care and compassion for our sister Betty did not go unnoticed and we will be forever grateful to all of you. We know you will miss her as much as we will. Betty loved to colour, chat, joke, dance a jig, listen to music, especially her favourite, Tommy Hunter. She had the pleasure of meeting him, having her picture taken with him and Tommy autographed it for Betty. Most of all she loved to be happy and to make others happy. What a wonderful trait!! She loved $5.00 bills and over the years many people made her happy with those bills, colouring books and crayons, dolls, stuffed toys, and many other gifts. Thank you very much for making her happy with your gestures of love and kindness. Betty is survived by her loving brothers and sisters; Joe (Theresa), Richmond, Texas, Anne (John), Airdrie, Alberta, David (Caroline), Albert Bridge and Marie (Jeff), Albert Bridge. She is also survived by her loving nieces and nephews and their families; Christopher Mulders (Briana), Chloe, Carter, Kallie, Reese, Okotoks, Alberta; Jacalynn (Jim) Kennedy, Kayla, Kelsey, Louisbourg; Josey Lovett (Robert), Albert Bridge and J.D. Lovett (Kiana) Paisley, Marion Bridge. Betty is also survived by many loving cousins in Mira, Sydney, Dartmouth, New York, and surrounding states. Betty enjoyed her many trips with her parents and siblings to Dartmouth and New York visiting her aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was always excited to visit her sisters, Marie and Anne and families in Alberta and her brother Joe and sister-in-law in Texas. In true Betty fashion as she was saying goodbye and as her sister Marie and her brother David held her hand and said their goodbyes, she said "I’ll see you around, if you’re not square". Rest easy sweet sister in your new "apartment" up above. Say hi to Mom and Dad. We love you dearly. Marie, David, Anne, Joe. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to T.J.
