I was so saddened to learn of Gordie’s death. I too worked with him in Neuro OR . He was a friend to everyone & loved to tell us about the trips he took especially to the Calgary Stampede . He was a “ fixture” at the old VG . Everyone knew & loved him in our Neuro family. Sincere condolences to the family . He will be missed .

To the family of Gordie MacKay,
We are so sorry that Gordie has passed away. We have known him for such a long time. Years ago, he stayed with Lindy and Eric every second year for Christmas. So he visited the Morford siblings with them! He always took great interest in Lindy’s family and he kept up on everyone’s news. Since Eric passed away, and with Covid lurking, we hadn’t seen Gordie for a few years. We’re so sorry we won’t see him again. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Sincerely,
Eileen and Harris Martin and family

To the MacKay Family. I was surprised and saddened to learn of Gordie's passing. I knew him during my Glace Bay school years and used to meet him in the Halifax area a few times each year-at a Hockey game or Waterfront event. We always had something to talk about. We were actually related and i was able to clarify that while doing my own Family history.

Condolences to all the MacKay family. So sorry to hear about Gordie's passing away. I was very good friends with him, for many years. We were both avid Montreal Canadian fans, & discussed hockey every time we met. NHL or QMJHL. He sure loved his hockey. I'll remember him in my prayers, & light a votive candle for him...May he Rest in Peace...Earl Pettipas

Although I grew up in Morien I only met Gordie at Mooseheads Hockey, We had many enjoyable conversations at the food court pre game, and between periods. I missed Gordie and had no idea where He lived but made enquiries. He was a Great Guy and will be missed by many.

I first met Gordie when I started a summer job as a porter at the VG Hospital, in the mid 60's. For the next several summers I returned to the VG(as it was then known) and most days I would have a chat with Gordie. It was always a pleasure to have these conversations, as he was always such a positive and cheerful person
From that time until today, I would meet Gordie two or three times a year, when he was either walking in downtown Halifax or attending a Mooseheads game.
During all these years he never seemed to change his demeanor.
Such a sad loss.

So sorry to hear of Gordie’s passing. I first met him when growing up in Glace Bay and going to the Junior/Senior hockey games at the Miners Forum. Gordie&jean was the biggest fan and Never missed a game. His brother Eric was one of my best friends..Later in life living in Dartmouth and I would look forward to meeting him at Voyageu games and we would meet between periods to talk about the game, he was so knowledgeable. Just a few weeks ago at the Mooseheads game I asked a friend of his where Gordie was. Little did I realize.. Meeting him with my brother and son at the games was always fun and something to look forward to. We will miss him.
