Obituary of Barbara Elaine Dacey

DACEY, Barbara Elaine, 84 of Halifax, NS., passed away December 15, 2022, at the QEII - HI. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia she was the daughter of James and Jeanette MacKinnon. Barbara is survived by her 2 sisters, Jeanne Geddes, and Eleanor Grana; her niece, Stefani Grana; and nephew, Felice Grana. She was predeceased by her parents, James and Jeanette MacKinnon; and her husband, Robert Dacey. Graduated from Dalhousie University, she also received a master’s degree from the University of Toronto in Library Science. She worked at St. Mary’s University as a librarian where she fostered many friendships that lasted a lifetime. Barbara worked tirelessly with breast cancer research until she was defeated by technology, however even then she continued. She was a member of the Universalist Unitarian Church in Halifax, and the members of that church became her family. They where very excepting of her and helped her at every turn in the road. Special mention to Glenda Butt and Shirpod Pensy. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to T. J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Halifax. A Remembering Barbara Service will be held February 3rd, 2023, at 2:00pm in Universalist Unitarian Church, 5500 Inglis Street, Halifax.
