Obituary of James Verner Hayes
HAYES, James Verner, age 57, of Sydney passed away Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2022. Born in Toronto, he was the son of the late Melvin Hayes and Teresa Hayes Moore. Jimmy lived a humble life, he enjoyed helping anyone who asked for it with full speed ahead, from painting to roofing he’d lend a hand. He was small in stature, but his heart was large. He took great pride in what he loved to do which was gardening and fixing up his backyard. His favorite hobby was sitting around the fire pit in his backyard having a couple of beer, it was very special to him. Also going to Tim Hortons with his friend
Ivan to people watch. His big heart also entailed his love for animals, especially his beloved cat Creampuff. Rest in peace Jimbo.
Jimmy is survived by his brother, Stanley (Sharon), New Jersey; sisters Helen Bumburs, Valerie (Ron) Bobbett, Deborah Hayes Barrington, all of Sydney, Nola (Perry) Perkins and Theresa (Shawn) Wiggett of Pennsylvania. Also survived by special friend Angela Sulewski, many nieces and nephews, aunts Nola, Claira, and Laura and one uncle, Robert Lahey. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his brother, Melvin. Jimmy will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation and reception will be held Thursday, Nov. 3 from 4-6 pm in T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, 902-539-7175. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
