It is with great sorrow that I have to say goodbye to my Uncle Jimmy. Although he was my uncle, he was only one year older than me, and he left us far too soon. He will be missed by everyone that knew and loved him.
Jimmy grew up with us as if he were our brother. When Jimmy was younger and living in Toronto, he would stay with us every summer in Cape Breton. My mom, Valerie (Jimmy's older sister), wanted to get him away from the city and enjoy the great summers in Nova Scotia. Jimmy, Ronnie (my brother), and I created many incredible memories. Whether it was fishing down on the Sydney docks or Wentworth Park, building cabins in the woods, biking all over Sydney, hiking trails, swimming at the many beaches nearby, playing street hockey and baseball, or walking to the mall to play video games at the arcade. We were always together. We also got into a lot of mischief, but those stories are saved when we are among our close friends and family. My mom and dad (Ronnie) were instrumental in helping Jimmy in many ways, and Jimmy always appreciated it. Jim was a kind soul and had a heart of gold.
Jimmy, my uncle, my brother, my friend; we miss you, and may your soul rest in peace.

Your light will never go out or dim as long as I have our memories. I will miss my partner in crime, my side kick. The one who never let me down. When it came to me needing a hand you were always there. Who’s going to help me hide my pick ups from the big guy now . I love you and will miss every day of my life .

A donation has been made to the Durham Humane Society in memory of Jimmy for his love of animals. Losing a loving brother so suddenly is not easy, but with time the good memories will help you with his sudden loss. He’s together again with Melvin and his parents as an angel looking over you. Our condolences to the family from your cousin Lorna MacIsaac-Rogers and family.

To Valerie and family: Deepest condolences to your family on the passing of your brother James. Unfortunately you had no time to say your goodbyes and that in itself is very difficult to deal with and believe what has happened. Take care and remember all the good times and wonderful memories that families share. A donation to The Hospice Society of Cape Breton has been made in memory of James passing. Hugs, Clare

It is with a heavy heart and some disbelief that I write my goodbye to Uncle Jimmy.
As a result of age and circumstance we found ourselves together often in our early childhood, more akin to brothers than Uncle and Nephew. Uncovering the odd bit of relatively harmless mischief on our traverses of the 7th Street neighbourhood. Hanging out in the junkyard or by the toffee factory down the road. Having a jumping contest on the swings while singing Joy to the World... "Jeremiah was a Bullfrog!!!"
Out to scrape together a few quarters, Jimmy (with me tagging along) was UBER EATs before there ever was one! Hitting the Firehall to go buy food for the firefighters at the local restaurant. Small delivery charge included, of course.
The stories that I won't leave here have become Legendary with my kids and our goofball antics in those early years have lit up many a room with laughter in their retelling! My God did we do some crazy you know what back in the day. :)
While distance, time, and the usual stuff that pulls us into our own worlds led me to have not seen Jimmy in a long while, he was never far from my thoughts. I found Uncle Jimmy on the tip of my tongue regularly, including just last week when regaling of the old days with my sister and our kids.
I will always remember you with love and laughter. May you rest in peace Jimmy.
