MaCINNIS, G. Elaine, Age 65, of Halifax passed away on October 18, 2022. Born in Cape Breton, NS, she was the daughter of John Hugh and Margaret (Burke). While attending the Interprovincial School of the Deaf, Elaine represented Canada at the World Games held by the Federation of Silent Sports in Sweden playing Volleyball. Elaine moved to Halifax to work with PSAC and later retired from DND – Federal Government in Halifax. Halloween was her favorite time of the year, and she won many prizes for her great costume ideas. Elaine never missed the opportunity to call family and friends to sing “Happy Birthday” and wish them well. Survived by her partner, Freddy Lapointe of over 21 years; daughter, Kari (Ryan) MacInnis Hyson; brother, Greg (Pauline); brother-in-law, Vince; sister, Mary Ann; sister-in-law, Reta, Margie; grandchild, Skylar; and many nephews and nieces. Predeceased by parents, John Hugh, and Margaret; brothers, Burke and John Willie (Karen), Jimmy; sisters, Rita and Barb; brother-in-law, Dave Pelham. Visitation will be held October 23rd, 2022, from 6pm to 8pm in St. Mary’s Parish Vestry in Mabou, NS. A memorial service is to be held October 24th, 2022, at 11:00am in St. Mary’s Parish Church, Mabou, NS with Fr. Dan MacDonald officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Palliative Care Unit at 7A QEII – VG or Canadian Breast Cancer Society. Special thanks to the Palliative Care team for their support and compassion. Thank you to her longtime friends for their visits.
