Obituary of Eddy Rodgers

Eddy Rodgers Reserve Mines, NS It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edward “Eddy” Rodgers, 81, of Reserve Mines. Eddy passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday October 4th, 2022, in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital after a short battle with lymphoma. He will be dearly and forever missed by family and friends. Eddy was born on June 21st, 1941, in Guysborough County to Pauline and Martin Rodgers. During his career as a counsellor with Manpower, he enjoyed helping people in the community. Eddy had an enormous passion for Scottish fiddling, both playing and teaching for many years. He was a long-time director and board member of the Cape Breton Fiddlers’ Association. He enjoyed teaching all ages of fiddling including the Guysborough County Youth Fiddlers as well as his Seniors class of the past 11 years - The Feisty Fiddlers. Eddy loved his time both at home in Cape Breton with family as well as at his cottage in Guysborough. He held such pride for his family and was a calm voice of reasoning and a great listener. He was an avid outdoorsman in his younger years, enjoying hunting and fishing. Eddy enjoyed being a Mr. Fixit, whether around the house or in the garage. Eddy loved watching sports and especially rooting for his beloved Montreal Canadians. Eddy is survived by his wife Kathleen, his daughter Suzanne McNeil (John) and his son Malcolm Rodgers (Barbara); his much-adored grandchildren Kyle, Annina, Emilia, and Heidi; his great grandson Mason; and many nieces and nephews, whom he also loved dearly. He is survived by his siblings: Marilyn, Phyllis (Donald Hart), George (the late Beverly), Audrey (Frank Romita), Danny (Mary Theresa), and Allen (Gwyn). He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Gerard and Angus, and his sister Barbara. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held October 11th, 12-1pm at Tracey's Funeral Home, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay. 902-849-4199. A Memorial service will follow at 1pm officiated by Fr.
