Pius was an excellent soldier and helped mentor and guide me in the early 1990's in Chatham. He was calm, patient and took great care of the soldiers. His sense of humour and dedication to work helped through many long exercises in Gagetown and Blue Mountain. My sincerest condolences to the entire McIntyre family. I am very sorry for your loss. During the Gulf War, Pius was my advisor, my confident and rock. I was junior officer in a tenuous situation, and an environmentally unfamiliar scenario, being army deployed at sea with the Royal Canadian Navy. Pius was always level headed and calm. He listened to my ideas and concepts for the deployment and made recommendations based on his years of experience. He always supported my final decision and he allowed me to develop into the officer that I would become throughout my career. He groomed me! He took his responsibilities seriously. He cared for the soldiers that he had oversight of and fulfilled his duties with exemplary fashion. Hence, his receipt of the CDS Commendation. It was the least I could do for a humble, solid man. Pius will be missed!
A true friend forever: Paul

Our sincere condolences to Fran and the whole family. I remember Pius for his superb leadership, professionalism, and his sense of humour. He had a unique ability to put everyone at ease. He was my first WO in Chatham in 89 and told me what not to do: I should have listening to him. It was a pleasure knowing him and working on numerous projects and tasks throughout the years. He will be sorely missed. We will be thinking about all of you. End-of-Mission Pius. R.I.P. soldier

My most sincere condolences to all the family at this sad time. I only met and talked with Pius once or twice, but those short talks with him I was very impressed listening to him and I felt that he would be a very nice fellow to get to know. Unfortunately it wasn't to be. But with the amount of people that I've known over the years who knew Pius, stated he was a superb fellow and a true friend. so with that I say to you Pius, ole' friend, End of Mission, RIP. Again my deepest sympathies to all the family and his life long partner Frances, you'll always have his memories and he'll be in your heart forever.

Very sorry to hear of Pius's passing, Pius was an instructor on my Combat Leader course back in 1979. We did our AD AIG Course together and over the years we worked together on many assignments, he was very upbeat, professional and always ready for a good laugh. Here's a toast to you old friend, may you rest in peace. God bless You Fran and your family, may his love bring peace and comfort to you all. Hedley and Irene.
