I have just read this now. What a shame. I knew Susan over 30 years ago when she was just starting out in the workforce at the Department of Biochemistry at Dalhousie where I was a graduate student. From the condolences here I see that she never changed from the kind person she was then.
Rest in Peace

Susan was an absolute beautiful person, inside and out. I worked briefly with her, but she made a definite impact on those around her. Her smile, her friendliness and willingness to always help when anyone asked. She would "check in" on those around her. She went above and beyond for everyone.
Deepest condolences to her friends and family. She was small but mighty and will leave a tremendous void in the world.

My deepest condolences to you, Susan’s family and friends. Susan was a gem of a person. She was sweetness wrapped in beauty. I am grateful to have known as a friend and co-worker and will forever cherish her memory.
My son, Starling did this painting of Susan and her beloved cat, Walter. May it give some comfort to see Susan’s happiness and beauty in this painting.
Dear Susan,
Gentle soul In God’s embrace, your loveliness time cannot erase.
Tender heart imprinted on mine holding you for all time.
Sweetest voice delicate tone, recognized as yours alone.
Peacefully rest from your cares, unburdened of all fears.
My prayer is we meet again, rest dear friend, until then.
Love, Denise & family

My sincerest sympathy to Susan's family. Funny, thoughtful and caring, Susan always had time for her co-workers, friends and clients. A proud "cat-mom" to Walter we shared stories of our beloved pets and Walter always came out the better pet. Spontaneous gifts and notes were her trademark. Walking around the office to get those steps on her Fitbit, we all knew what time it was. She will be so missed by us all. Susan, may you rest in peace.

To the family, friends and colleagues of this lovely lady:
Susan and I did not meet in life; however, someday we will, when we are on the other side. What I know is my loving sister, Denise, dearly treasured you as a friend and colleague, and those she cares about, I do to. Your life will be remembered not so much for your work, but the kindness and caring of others that you displayed and lived out in your work life and outside of work, all of which is in line with the Almighty who teaches us that compassion, caring and love in our relationships are the most important of all. That is your legacy, among so many other wonderful things that those that knew you can attest to. A beautiful person and soul, you have left us here but with a treasure trove of your gifting to discover as will happen during these days of sorrow and onward. Love never fails. ( 1 Corinthians 13) and your special love will continue to strengthen others. To God be the Glory, great things He has done . He blessed everyone with you, his beloved daughter.
My sincerest condolences for this huge loss. ~ Gayle K. Gray

As a work family, Susan was a beauty who gave and made friendly gestures with beautiful smile, had simplicity and kind-heartedness, was a ray of sunshine (now all have been lost with her passing) but will always be treasured and remembered. Rest in peace, friend.

Susan was such a kind, lovely person. Her smile, laughter, silliness and kindness were infectious. From her power walks around the office, to her proud cat mom stories about her famous Walter and her endless kind gestures. She is gone too soon and will be greatly missed by many. My deepest sympathies to her family and friends.

To Susan’s loved ones at home she had a work family with DCS. She took time to listen to clients stories on both sides of the desk. I worked with her in our Halifax office and she was great at what she did. Always willing to help or solve problems. I am sorry she has gone too soon. She developed a lot of friends and this is a great loss. We will miss her beautiful energy.

My dearest and sweet Susan, our hearts are broken to think that we will never see your smiling face again or hear your infectious giggle and laugh. You were a shining light to many of us and turned many of our frowns upside down. You were always there with an encouraging word, gentle touch or a small gift. I remember once mentioning I had to get a small facial trimmer and low and behold, the following Monday, one appeared with a small handwritten note as you would often do letting me know you were thinking about me. I will miss our giddy laughs at what some would think was inappropriate but we thought was hilarious!!! I will miss our trips to Chabba Thai, our conversations about Walter and how amazing of a cat he is, our deep conversations about life and just being in your presence. I hope you are finally at peace my friend and I believe I now have gained another guardian angel. I love you with all my heart. You will never be forgotten. Thank you for sharing your beautiful heart and soul with me!!

Susan and I first met while we were both training for DCS, and I remember thinking that we couldn't be more different. Over time, however, I realized that Susan was just as snarky, irreverent and sarcastic as I was - just in a sweet, small, bubbly package. I've always really enjoyed in life when people surprise me, and Susan did on a constant basis - with stories of her life, with her ridiculous humor, and with the caring little tokens she'd often send for no reason through interoffice mail. I'll never forget when she pulled up her phone in our cubicle one day and we watched her cat Walter on a live-feed she'd set up. It became a daily ritual to check-in with him and say hi. Susan made work a joy, despite the hard things we'd usually be dealing with. She was warm and empathetic and caring, and I will always remember how settled and comfortable it was being around her.
My deepest sympathies to her family and close friends. I hope that you find some measure of comfort in each other - and in what I'm sure are countless treasured memories Susan left you with. Sending you all my love - Heather G.
